I had the shrimp and grits, and my wife had the tempura fried shrimp. Both dishes were excellent and the price was very reasonable.

Been coming to HHI for YEARS and never made it here until tonight. Casual dining with cool food selections. Small menu but all excellently prepared. Highly recommend!

This food was so delicious. It is the best food I had on the island. It was well cooked and the wait times at the restaurant were reasonable. The portions were good too. I will definitely return here the next time I come to Hilton Head.

It is a hard place to rate. The food was really good, the portions were on the small side, and service was slow. They have a Shared Plate section. My wife and I had the Broil and surf&turf. Both were good but even for "shared plates" they were small. If the broil was twice as big it would be a perfect 10. I would recommend eating there, I assume the service is usually better.

Solid place to eat, good service, the food was good and clean facilities. But the food was not extraordinary and probably wouldn't go back. I will say the service was excellent though and we were moved without question to a better table when we asked to be because of being directly under a A/C vent. They do have a full bar and the drinks were good. Their menu has several options for each type of food (shellfish, fish, landlubbers, etc...." but it wasn't nearly as huge as some of the other local restaurants like Steamers or Skull Creek Boathouse, both places we routinely go every year because of the food, service, and fun atmosphere

Presentation was better than a NYC restaurant. Gorgeous. The best pulled pork slider. And the fried green tomato slider just as good. Run, don't walk to this restaurant!!!

Really great menu, excellent food, and the prices were extremely reasonable. Definitely a place I'll recommend to friends. I had the chicken and waffles and my wife had the black-eyed pea cakes - both were really, really good. Great flavor combinations, and the portions were bigger than I expected. I'd say that the only thing that could be improved is the interior acoustics (cavernous space so it was a bit loud).

I was worried this place might be a tourist trap with the flashy location...but everything we ordered was fresh and high quality. Gumbo and crab cakes made for some great starters...but the star of the show was the shrimp-n-grits with gouda cheese and a rich red gravy. Plenty of craft beers and live music just put icing on the cake. I would eat here again.

This is the second year in a row that my family and I have come to Hilton Head and I am in absolute love with this place. For starters, they have a great space right on Coligny circle with a huge patio. There were a couple guys playing music when we were outside enjoying our drinks and lunch but not too loud which I appreciated. They have great mules that they make with different kinds of liquor like tequila or vodka. I always order some variation of the sliders. Fried green tomato sliders. What more do you need to know? This last time I tried the crab cake sliders. I mean to tell you, these things are the bomb dot com. Corn salsa and lemon aioli. I also ordered french fries and they serve them in those little fryer baskets. Kinda cute. Fresh cut and the right amount of salt. The only thing that is inconsistent is the service. Our waitress seemed a little uninterested at first but then she warmed up later. It doesn't really matter. If I come back to HHI I will come here every time.

I came here for dinner the other night and the service was not up to standard. The hostess tried hard to get us waters after we were sitting at the table for about 15 minutes waiting for the waitress, but then it took a while for our food to come out on top of it. The waitress hardly came back to check on how we were doing which was disappointing because we needed a couple things. Also, there was limited citronella and my friend got all bit up. The food and drinks were really good though, great flavors and combinations. I got an Island Mule which was ginger beer and pomegranate flavoring and shrimp and grits. I was hoping based on the photos that the grits would be a little less solid, but the sauce from the shrimp was devine. They had live music and they helped with the atmosphere. He was really good and it was interesting how he looped the music. It created a great vibe.

I visited Hilton Head Island earlier this week and I wanted to try something new. So I found this place named Bomboras online so I decided to check it out. And I'm very glad I did. It's located in Behind the Coffee Bean and across from the BP station. The food was awesome and so were the drinks! They have large and small plates which was great! I ordered the surf and turf which is one of their smaller entrees. It was perfect it was a small portion of their filet and their crab cakes along with their Guda Grits!!! It was totally delicious at very reasonable prices! The drinks were great as well as the decor. I would totally return here to eat and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hilton Head Island! You won't regret it!

Just OK, service was a little slow and the prices seemed high. We tried the seafood salsa and for approximately $10 and it came with about 9 chips and small cup of salsa and we were not able to ID seafood in the cup, it tasted OK, but on par with the free salsa you get at a Mexican restaurant. It appears that they wanted to try and have a good craft beer selection, but 7 of the 10 beers they had on tap had been lined through on the menu, which is usually a sign of a restaurant that is in trouble. Hope they make it through the slow non-tourist season, because I doubt that the locals will keep this place afloat based on our dining experience.

Ate here two days in a row. Nice location close to the beach. Would drop my teen girls off at the beach and head here for some craft draft brews and a bite. First day had a 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup blackened catfish / shrimp gumbo. Both where very good and I would try them again. I was offered a sample of the Gouda grits and they where yum bit at $4 for a side dish I waited to try them the next day with the shrimp and grits. On both days I had two glasses of draft porter. They have 5-6 taps of craft beer. The shrimp and grits with red eye Tasso gravy where Yummo. 6 medium shrimp on a plate of Gouda grits with Tasso red eye gravy and three toast points. At $16 it was a tad on the high side for a lunch item. I was charged two different prices for the same beer on my two visits. I would go back next time I'm in the area . Knock outdoor patio and super clean bathrooms.
Just came into town for SpringBreak and based on reviews tried this place out. It did not disappoint! Atmosphere is very new age and welcoming. Pricing very good compared to other local places. Friday night had a solo guitarist entertaining us. We tried the salmon special, chili, and several small plates. Perfect for our party of 5. Mussels and surf/turf were my fav. Definitely will b returning, great vibe - great food - and the staff were very friendly. Couldn't ask for a better way to kick off our week.

Drove by this place many times at Coligny Plaza and finally stopped with some friends. We ate outside on the patio. Wife and I split BBQ egg rolls and fried green tomato apps. Egg rolls were good. The tomatoes were OK as they had a heavy pimento cheese layer that overpowered things. Of course I'm not a big pimento cheese fan. I had shrimp and grits and steak "Social Plate". It was a tapas style presentation. Both were excellent. The kids enjoyed their selections, the cool patio lights, and color-changing cups. They had a great selection of cocktails. My wife loved their Chaitini and I enjoyed a lemongrass mojito. The place seems to have a speakeasy theme as the waitresses were dressed as Flappers and the waiters as Gangster. A little too gimmicky for me, but not a distraction. They did have live music inside and out and the solo sax player outside was good, but it was far too loud for conversation and we were happy when he took a break and eventually stopped playing.

Just came here to eat with my family on vacation. The waiter was really nice. We ordered a few entrees and it was under 40 dollars. The food was possibly the best out of all the restaurants we've been too. Good southern cooking, tastes homemade. Nice atmosphere next to the beach!

I stopped in for lunch very early with my dog and sat on the patio and was greeted by a wonderful server who took care of the both of us. I had a craving for a Bloody Mary for some reason, and they apparently have a mix called "Your Mom's Bloody Mary". Well, I am a lover of "Your Mom" jokes and this seemed like a sign. And it was a delicious mix! One of the best I have had. The server recommended that I go with a soup and sandwich combo of the Pulled Pork sandwich and the Smoked Bomb Chili, both award winning and both so worth it! The corn bread with cinnamon flavored butter before was very impressive, but this combination totally sealed the deal for me. Anytime I am in Hilton Head, I am stopping here.

First time trying this place and what a hit! We were there for a very early dinner on our last night on the island. Always a meal with high expectations. For being a "bar" place it was very accommodating for families. My husband and I enjoyed the: bbq pork egg rolls, jalapeno and cheddar hushpuppies, fried green tomato BLT sliders and buffalo chicken sliders. All were excellent. I asked for a small ramakin of the smoked gouda grits, to keep my kid entertained. HE ATE THEM ALL. Evidently my 7 month old has a discerning palate. Those things are awesome! The drink menu was interesting and my beer snob husband said the beer selection was excellent. Definitely will be back next year.

Service was great! Food far exceeded my expectations! Shrimp and Grits, steak, southwest burger were all sampled and cooked to perfection! The blue cheese slaw was just a side but my favorite part of the whole meal!

Okay, can I say that this place is holy cow quick?! I'm sorry for staying past closing time last night. I didn't realize what time they actually closed. I was so happy to find this place last night to grab a bite to eat after a long drive. The bartender (I don't remember her name) was super duper nice and friendly. They had my favorite scotch on hand, which deserves two stars alone. The atmosphere was casual and quiet since it is the off season. I used this place as a daytime equivalent to a coffee house to do some reflective writing. Okay, so ok to the food. I didn't order an appetizer. I ordered the mahi mahi which came with fried green tomatoes on top of grits. The mahi mahi was tasty, but a bit salty for my taste. I e fair, I don't really like salt in general. I will request less seasoning on my food the second time around. I didn't care for the fried green tomatoes, I didn't like the texture. The grits were delicious. I also really love it is within a walking distance from where I am staying. I will definitely come back here the next time I visit Hilton Head island.
Had a spicy shrimp dish on a bed of cabbage. The shrimp was excellent. My wife had surf & turf that was good. Live music and sat outside. It was by the street and there was some street noise but it was nice.

Jeff N.
I was not crazy about this place. My buddy had the Mahi Mahi, it was good but over priced for what you get. I had the Low Country Boil it was good but again a very small portion. The whole place just felt like they didn't real care and are numb to all the tourist. They had live music which was nice. The beer selection was weak. I would not go back.

My wife and I tried this place tonight because we had a free dinning voucher we received with our vacation package. When we tried to call ahead to get the address someone kept hanging up. Well, we should have heeded this early warning and left it at that. Away, we find this place and when we enter there was no one to greet or sit us even thought there was only about 6 customers. We decided to sit ourselves and after a while a waitress came over to take our order. We had the BBQ salad, chicken & waffles, and cheese cake for desert. The salad was good. The chicken & waffles were another story, the waffles were burnt and tasteless. We received two mini burnt waffles top by the smallest pieces of chicken I have ever had. We were amazed at what some restaurants pass off as a meal these days. The cheese cake was your typical store bought item nothing special, it was a mix between Key Lime and Strawberry go figure. Our 2 meals ended up costing $53.55. Thank God our voucher took off $40.00 so we wound up paying $13.55 after 18 gratuity and tax. All in all, this has been one of the worst dinning experiences we have had in HH ever. Trust me we will never come back!

Not much to look at from the outside but looks are deceiving! The star of show were the pulled pork sliders, absolutely melt in your mouth. The crab cakes were excellent as well. Very kid friendly and had several tasty options for the little ones.

The service was excellent and the food was great! Yes it was a bit pricey depending on what you order, but it seemed like the lesser expensive stuff was tastier according to the others at our table. Some loved the kobe sliders, others the shrimp and grits. I had the shrimp platter which was great but nothing particularly out of the ordinary and the fries were very fresh but a tad under-cooked. The real reason I logged on to yelp today was to give a review to the pulled pork spring roll appetizer that they have, these were so good that they made the rest of the meal pale in comparison. Their beer list is eclectic as well to say the least. My wife and I are Beer Knurds and we hadn't heard of most of them ( many local). all in all a great place to eat, even for the price tag.

Strange menu, that just didn't quit make sense. We started with fried green tomatoes as an app - horrible! Soggy coating on an under-cooked tomato! For dinner, I ordered the Bronzed Mahi. At first glance, my plate looked beautiful! With all the colors and textures I couldn't wait to dive in...but I am sorry that I did. The combination just did NOT work whatsoever. Piled on top of too-salty-grits was the too-salty-mahi, sprinkled with (salty!) bacon, raw onion chunks, peach chunks, AND fried green tomatoes! The taste was extremely unfavorable. I was very disappointed with my meal. I Would not recommend Bomboras to anyone.

Last night on the island and after having mediocre meals with hour long waits, was pleasantly surprised to find the bomb. Went there during pouring rain and hostess offered to hold my 68" golf umbrella at the hostess stand - starting off good. Waitress was patient with my three starving kids and pleasant and attentive the rest of the evening. Ordered a number of appetizers and small plates for the table - food came out fresh and dishes were unique and inspired. Fried green tomato sliders were a nice twist on a southern staple and flatbreads were excellent (although dough was maybe a little under-done for my tastes - halfway between a pita and a true crispy flatbread). Overall, great find with an ambiance of understated elegance.

coligny circle smash hit. menu is sweet blend of lowcountry modern menu dining experience. super friendly crowd -- excellent outdoor patio option. live entertainment was fun and inviting. don't miss the hush puppies or shrimp and grits!!! Matt's service on par with the best on HHI. We highly recommend.

The service because of their iPod system was a little slow. Craft beers are great but they didn't have a few that I wanted. They were on the menu, but they had run out. I really like the social eating philosophy this place had.

The beer is good and they have a good variety. Service was excellent. We (2 couples) decided to go here Tue. and called at 5 for a 6:30 reservation. We were promptly seated when we arrived. The menu was a bit eclectic and for one in our party who is not food adventurous the choices were limited. He finally settled on the meatloaf. The girls ordered a couple of small plates while I got the shrimp entree, broiled not fried which seemed to surprise our server. The sauce for the hush puppies was outstanding, everything else pretty standard, hence the three stars.

Had dinner here while visiting Hilton Head. Tried it because they offer a large selection of craft beers including several local breweries. We sat at the bar and had great service. My husband and I are vegetarians and found plenty on the menu. We especially liked the fried green tomatoes and pea cakes. I would definitely recommend!

We loved our whole experience. We tried the chicken and waffles and wished we had ordered two! We also tried the crab cakes and surf and turf. Not sure why it it rated so high for the price. Our meal was relaxed, and tasty along with great service and we were surprised at how reasonable the price was. We would love to return again!

Not great! But ok, but the one thing I can't forgive is it's PRICING! it cost me $40 for lunch with my 6&11 year old boys. One had a hot dog ($4.00) and fries which he claimed was the bestess and biggest he ever had, but he hated the fries. My oldest had the grilled cheese ($3.50) which he said was gross and it was served with unmelted cheese on a hamburger bun, but he liked the fries! I had a cheeseburger it was over cooked over seasoned and over priced. I ordered it medium rare, it was medium well, it was $10 and an extra dollar for cheese. I had asked for a side salad, they brought me this plate with what see Ed to be an Asian type of slaw, though it was good, it was in desperate need of salt and pepper, and some kind of texture. It would have been better with dry roasted peanuts or cashews. But for $5 bucks I felt cheated. The service was ok, but the day before fathers day, and only 2 tables inside and one outside, the service should have been better! It was afternoon and this place was empty, that should have been a clue! I won't return here, with those prices & mediocre food, I'll go somewhere else.

Well I have to disagree with the previous posts we tried 4 things and they all had OVER POWERING sauces i think they were more into the presentation and forgot to taste. DONT try the Ceviche Cat Fish Shrimp Salad FIlet with the other 120 restaurants on the island i would not go here.

WORSE meal this trip, over priced for the amount of food you get, Went there for a late lunch ordered the meatloaf, received a plate with 4 bite size pieces of meatloaf, 15 green beans when ordered a double portion and dry corn bread, $10 would not have feed my 3 year old. services was fair. There are better places to eat, don't waste your time.

Very good. I was nervous about ordering the filet, but the steak turned out great! We were a party of 7, and at 7:00 on a Saturday evening during the first week of summer vacation, there was no wait. Our waiter was attentive, and all of us enjoyed our meal. Would definitely dine here again, and recommend it.

This just in: Curious Traveler Shandy is incredibly overrated! My husband and I dined here last night. The prices are typical of any near-beach restaurant which I think are generally higher than the value of the meal. The high points were the ahi tuna flatbread and the buffalo chicken sliders. The ahi tuna was perfectly rare, the flatbread was the right balance between crispy outside and pillowy inside, and the micro greens were a great peppery counterpoint. The buffalo chicken sliders were definitely the best thing we had here. They had the right amount of buffalo on them to add flavor without making anything soggy, and there was a blue cheese, tomato, and sweet corn salsa-type topping that was just delicious. The pimento cheese dip, however, left much to be desired. It was bland and served with "house made chips" that hardly tasted fresh out of a bag. The celery and carrot served on the side were fresh though. We also tried the pulled pork sliders which were, again, nearly tasteless. There was no flavor difference between the pork and the slaw even though the texture difference was evident. The surf and turf social plate was pretty disappointing. While the filet was cooked exactly to the temperature requested, it was majoring lacking seasoning. It was served with crab cakes that tasted un-freshly fishy and strangely bitter. The surf and turf was served on a bed of Gouda Grits that were very tasty but not as good as the grits served at The Porch. With all of the dining options surrounding us, we don't see why we would need to return.

I came back because it was so good last time. I was not disappointed. Friendly staff and great food and drinks. This time I had the pulled pork sandwich and the Island Mule. They cook their own pulled pork and it was delicious. The sandwich was large and everything tasted fresh. The Mule came served in a silver mug and was refreshing. I will be back again!

Don't go, unless you want mediocre food, rude service, and unpleasant surroundings. When we arrived, I was at once assaulted by the worst substitute for music that I have ever heard. In Texas when we have a band that bad, a wire enclosure is built to protect the band from beer bottles that are thrown. The music was bad, but the worst thing about it was that it was so loud that it was painful. When I asked the hostess if we could move, she told me, "If you don't like it, leave". Because I was with a group, I did not leave, but I regret not taking her advise. The food was, at best, mediocre and food that was supposed to be hot was served cold. I found the porch to be an exceptionally unpleasant environment with the noise, poor food, and the milling around of the crowd that was penned in that space. They offer a card for comments that is delivered with the bill. I filled it out saying what I said above and as a result was verbally assaulted for my efforts. So, unless you like to be bombarded by bad noise, served poor food, and in general disrespected, avoid this place!

Great food but double check your bill. Our party of six was almost over charged 33%. After inquiring it was corrected....no apology or explaination. This was after it took 15 min to be greeted and we nearly left. Hope your experience is better.

I have never been talked to so rudely by someone. We were not greeted politely nor talked to in a respectful manner. Brian is not a nice guy. Our waitress on the other hand was very sweet. The food and drink were delicious. Beer selection is great and a yummy menu

Wow! Super pleased with the food here! We sat outside under the gigantic umbrellas which came in handy because it started to rain a bit. But we were protected enough. We got a few shared tapas and the best in my opinion was the Ahi flatbread. Amazing! It's also a fun place to sit and people watch. Never a lack of interesting people to watch in this area.

So disappointed with this place. We went in and were promptly seated by a pleasant hostess. Our server came over and took our drink order. 21 minutes later she still had not come back to our table. We got up and left at this point. I have been/currently am a server and bartender. I understand a lot more than most and almost always give the server the benefit of the doubt. This time I couldn't. Even as we left she seemed confused and couldn't understand our frustrations. Having a two year old with us we were on a bit of a race against the clock. It is so disappointing because the menu looked wonderful. Hope the server was just having a bad shift.

Black eyed peas and fried green tomatoes in a number of creative dishes. Be sure to order the Southern Popcorn - fried black-eyed peas. Scrumptious. Award winning pulled pork. A selection of southern veggies. Arrives piping hot and with a smile.

Very nice place. The bartender shows his expertise with the cocktails and they are really good. Food was also good quality, I tried portobello salad and was amazing. Unfortunately tbe owner cannot get enough of ginger beer for the "mule" cocktail -the favourite one. Finally, our party was 17 people counting 6 kids. They did a nice job accomodating all of us and were super quick bringing our orders. I recommend this place.

We decided to go to this restaurant because it was right by coligny beach. We were wet and hungry and it was an outside restaurant. The food was surprisingly good. I got the shrimp and grits and other shrimp were perfectly cooked and the ham gravy was delicious. My husband the meat+three sides. He got catfish, collards, grits, and red rice which he said were good. The waitress was really nice and the service was timely. I'd recommend this spot to anyone.

I feel like restaurants at vacation spots are always "just alright" but bomboras grille definitely went above that standard. I came here with a large group (12 adults) who can sometimes be hard to please. I called about an hour ahead of time and made reservations. When we arrive our table was set up and they sat us immediately even though only half of our party was there. Awesome because I'm definitely ordering a cocktail and I prefer to keep it all on one tab. The cocktails we ordered were the Coligny Cocktail (fine, but I'd go for something more unique next time) a Moscow mule (great!) and a cocktail made with bullet rye (also awesome). On to the important stuff, the food. The goat cheese appetizer was freaking goat cheesy awesome. So melty and earthy and easy to share. The chicken mulligatawny was my personal favorite, had a hint of curry that provided a nice warmth. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. I'd skip the side of Mac and cheese next time and order the soup as a side or another app. The small plates are great. One plate plus a soup or a side is enough to be full without feeling bloated with calories. A few couples opted to do two small plates and split a salad or appetizer and felt very content. Our server was nice and attentive, albeit he seemed new to having a big party, but handled everything fine, and the kitchen was super fast. Was it an overwhelmingly amazing experience? No. But it was relaxed, easy, and when you have a group of 12 people sometimes all you want is something chill. Priced well, I'd go here on a night when no one wants to cook but everyone wants something good. Suggestions: 1. Make a reservation, it takes two seconds on the phone and makes everything more relaxing. (Not just here, but anywhere on the island) 2. Order a beer or a cocktail. 3. If you like curry flavors, get the chicken mulligatawny. 4. Relax! You're on vacation :)

Great food and great atmosphere. We sat down on the patio for a casual dinner and were pleasantly surprised to have live music. My husband had a cup of the chili which he highly recommends along with the special Cobia fish cakes which were phenomenal. I ended up getting the shrimp plate broiled and they catered to my dairy allergy and allowed me to pick another side that could be prepared dairy free. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back next time we visit for a nice dinner on the patio.

Great drinks, great food, great atmosphere. 4 stars only because I didn't care much for the types of salad they had. A friend of mine and I both and different types of salad for an appetizer and they were just...strange. Cabbage or something instead of lettuce. Other than that we loved everything. Great menu choices and service. Delicious! I will definitely be back.

3 of us had a wonderful meal at Bomboras Grille. We began with a Wrong Pineapple that was wonderful I flavor and reasonable in price. The shrimp gumbo was so good one of us had to go for seconds! Fried tomato Napoleon was excellent with just the right amount of spice. The pulled pork sliders and bronzed Mahi and portobello slider also wonderful. We'll definitely be back!

OMG! Yelp led us again to a most delightful meal as we began our week at HHI. Server John Copp was outstanding, recommending the meat loaf, which I had my eye on anyway. But first things first: we both started with a delicious Curious Traveler Shandy, which we had several of before we left. It was so delicious and John had recommended it as well. Then we started with the Southern popcorn, black-eyed peas tossed in Cajun spices and deep fried, served in a cute little fryer basket. Heavenly! Then she ordered the chopped blue cheese salad, a favorite of hers, but it was not as good as some she has had. She accompanied this with two blacked catfish sliders on amazing soft buns with a fried green tomato on each and charred and blackened perfectly. My meatloaf was an individual bomb, so tasty and flavorful, served with candied carrots that I ate first and could not get enough of, and homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. We sat outside under the trees and white lights and listed to the Glenn Jacobs duo, who were very talented and played many old favorites, and came by our table on a break to greet us. It was such a delightful night that we did not want to leave, but we vowed to be back later in the week. I asked John if he was working on Thursday, and he said "No," and I said "thank God," and he said, "You jerk!" I loved it! Truth is he was an excellent server and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Can't believe that we have been coming to HHI for so many years the same week and just discovered this place! A new favorite! Five stars are not enough! Amazing beer selections served from their unique bottom feeding taps-- go and let John explain it to you, and "Don't touch the bottom of the cup! ;-) So four days later we went back and took our family. We could not resist the fried black eyed peas again, and also ordered fried green tomatoes to start. My wife and I had the Curious Traveler Shandy again, my mom had her usual glass of Chardonnay, my brother in law went for the local dark, hoppy River Dog Dopplebock, and my sister had the specialty cocktail made with sweet tea and peach infused vodka. Then to our meal: I had to order the meat loaf again--it was so delicious the first time, but the carrots were not quite as tasty as I remembered, but the meat loaf and potatoes were. My wife got the blue cheese chopped salad, which was better than the regular chopped salad, and buffalo chicken sliders. My brother-in-law went for the black-eyed pea cakes, and my sister had an order of fried green tomatoes and crab cakes, and mom went for the shrimp and grits. All were delicious, but mom said the shrimp and grits were a bit too spicy for her and she did not eat all of hers. Music by Glenn Jacobs was once again outstanding, and the reason we came and made a reservation was so that we could be seated outside to hear him. He was even better solo than the first time we heard him in duo! Thank God John was not working tonight and we got the friendly and efficient Michelle instead! ;-)

Excellent food and service - great experience. The pulled pork was amazing with a sweet BBQ sauce and the Savannah red rice had just the right kick.

Just went for the sweet fries and a local brew. Both were excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful too. Their food also looked amazing!

Really cute little place in Coligny Circle. It's surrounded by touisty shops but this place is pretty fun. Outdoor dining. The big draw for us is they are Cincinnati Natives and the place is filled with Reds and Bengals gear. We went back 2x on our trip, the first for lunch and the second to watch the game. Who Dey! I'm gluten-free because of celiac disease and my options were very limited. They had Fox Barrel on draft which was awesome. I had the shrimp and rice (meat and side selection). My husband had a burger today and pulled pork yesterday which were both good. Nice staff!

My experience with this restaurant revealed excellent service and good food. Loved the small plate options. My Mahi Mahi with grits and fried green tomatoes was perfect in every way. Whoever thinks this restaurant is expensive must be eating at fast food joints on the island! Compared to other like restaurants, this place is very reasonably priced. I have been coming to the island for over 30 years and will most certainly revisit Bomboras Grille!

The food was very delicious and reasonably priced. Great night with an acoustic solo in front of the restaurant. Would recommend coming here.

Great beer selection. This place is a gastro pub and its tapas style. The shrimp gumbo and the fried green tomatoes of the regular menu were phenomenal. I got a special that was bronzed mahi mahi served on top of a jalepenos grits. So good! This is our second time here and we will be back! They have a great patio, and the inside is nice. Its got a great vibe if you are looking for a dirink, something quick to eat, or a nice meal. Check this place out.

I have been to this place a few times over the past couple of years, and i seek it out every time that I am in Hilton Head. While some times have been better than others, they on a whole have been good. I have found that sitting at the bar, I have had a better overall experience than when I sit at a table. Which is fine, except when it is super nice out and you want to sit outside. When you sit at the bar, they have chilled spots for your drinks to keep them cool. They also have a unique beer poring system that fills beers from the bottom. Few of their beers are on this system, and it generally the beers I don't like, but it is fun to see a few times, after that the novelty wears off. The system is for the restaurants benefit, as they don't over poor, or have an overly heady beer, but that benefits the customer also. The one thing to watch out for with those beers, is that they take a special glass, that attaches a seal at the bottom, and if you play it aggressively, your beer will be gone quickly, and not in your mouth. Their beer selection is solid, especially for the island, a good place to get something a bit different. We will be back.

Yum! Definitely worth a try, but I would stick to the small plates. My dining partner had the meatloaf and wasn't impressed. We shared a few other smaller plates, the jalapeno hush puppies are to die for! We also tried the crab cakes which were pretty good, the pulled pork eggrolls which were delish, and the sliders. Though the sliders were rare in the middle, they were very tasty! Our server was a young lady that had just moved there from Ohio, can't remember her name...but she was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful with the menu. She does a great job! Everything was great!

I wasn't expecting much when we chose to ate here, but our experience was awesome! Most of our party said it was the best meal they had the whole week we were there and I agree! The food is mostly served tapas style (although they call them social plates) but you can get bigger meals too if you don't want to share (but i encourage you too try it!). The quality and presentation of the food is excellent too! We also sat outside and enjoyed the live entertainment the rest of the night with some good tasting cocktails. It was overall an amazing night!

Really good for a relaxed casual establishment. Loved the pimento cheese appetizer. Also had chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Wife had black eyed peas and slaw. Really good and would come back again.

Food was average. We just had appetizers. Kobe beef sliders were the highlight of the meal. Kids fruit was pre packaged even though on the menu it said that the fruit was fresh. If you sit outside the music is very loud. All in all the food was just okay.

Meals are creative and delicious. Bartender is great for conversation and he makes a great cocktail. What more can you say. Me and my wife ate a few other places on Hilton Head Island, but after coming here we just kept coming back. Pulled Pork Slider was delicious for lunch and just about everything we had for dinner was awesome too - maybe a little pricier than some places, but still very fair in my opinion.

The only thing second to the good food is the service. The service is a 5, and the food is a close score. I recommend the Gouda grits and/or surf and turf. The atmosphere is wonderful for couples with a taste for craft beer and wine. The wine list is a wonderful compliment to the craft beer selection. The plus: they use local ingredients whenever possible.

At our Table we ordered Chili (very good), Blue Cheese Salad (excellent), Fish & Chips (very good), Fried Green Tomato Sliders (exc) and Catfish sliders (vg). By now you can tell the direction that I'm heading on this review but I'm also going to mention the beer selection here since its not extensive but what they had is top shelf. I've become a little bit of a Belgium beer fan so there's a few beers that always get my attention (i.e. Chimay) so whenever I see a Belgium on a menu its an easy decision. At Bomboras they went one step further with their Belgium offering (Kwak) since they had it on draft which included one of the most unique glassware to accompany the beer that our waitress had to tell us several times was not for sale. I will try and upload the photo so that you can see it but trust me - its an immediate photo opp. I also had a Saison Farmhouse that was very good. Bottom line if you want innovative dishes w/ a Southern Flair to go with creative drink menu - you have found your place. Don't let the crowd size fool you since it was pretty slow the night we were there but it doesn't matter since everything here was a nice surprise.

Absolutely perfect for what I wanted - sat outside, had a drink and some appetizers, lovely evening. The L'orange wedge drink was good, but the description read "with a sugared rim" which led me to believe it would be straight up in a martini glass. Instead, it came in a tall glass with a lot of ice and a straw, no sugared rim. But still tasty. The pulled pork egg rolls were really good, especially with the orange ginger sauce. And the ahi tuna flatbread was refreshing and well balanced. There are very few lights outside, some candles or fairy lights on the huge umbrella would be most welcome. A great place.

Love the atmosphere here. The bar and waitstaff are friendly and fun. Haven't tired the food but the drink specials are always great. They typically have live music as well.

A hidden gem near Coligny Plaza. Our party of seven enjoyed the food and excellent service (from Sarah, our server). Our favorites included (everything we ordered): the crispy shrimp and shiitake salad; ahi tuna flatbread; bronzed mahi mahi served over smoked Gouda and fried green tomatoes; pan roasted mussels with andouille sausage,& crushed tomatoes; and an amazing tempura battered fish and chips platter! The two chopped side salads also got raves from our group.

We had grouper tacos, fried green tomatoes, and blackened pea cakes. All were excellent. We sat outside and enjoyed listening to the acoustic guitar player. Service was excellent. Portions are small for the price.

I was in Hilton Head for vacation last week and my husband and I stumbled upon Bomboras while walking around. We were there for lunch. My husband ordered their pork lunch plate. He loved it. I ordered the Fried Green Tomato grilled cheese on flat-bread. Everyone talks about how great FGT's are, but I've never had one that was anywhere near decent. I decided to order this since we were in the South, and I love grilled cheese sandwiches with regular tomatoes. It was amazingly delicious. The tomatoes were not over battered and were super crispy and wonderful. The balance of tomato to cheese to flat-bread ratio was perfect. I could have eaten 5. I had hush puppies as my side, and they were so good. They were almost like doughnut holes they were sweet, but not too sweet. Our last night in HH, we went back for dinner with my parents and aunt because we had liked it so much before. Around the table we had the pulled pork sliders, the Kobe Beef sliders, the Fried Green Tomato sliders (me of course), and the surf and turf small plate (tapas). They had some great beers on draft as well. I had the Safe Harbour and it was tasty. We all loved our food, and the only thing I would say they could improve on was the Fried Green Tomato Sliders. I ended up not eating most of the bread because I couldn't taste the tomato, so I would say to put more tomato. Also on the sliders were crumbled bacon, remoulade and a little cabbage. Both times our servers were really nice. The guy who was our server on 9/8/12 was really nice (and cute ladies). He held my chair out for me and slid it in for me. Very gentlemanly. He gave excellent service throughout dinner. He has a great smile (did I mention something like that already?) and gave us just the right amount of attention. I'm sure he knows who he is!

Great tapas place. We sat outside with the band on a beautiful evening. The waitstaff were friendly and efficient. We had the seafood salsa, fried pickles, crab cakes, southern popcorn, blt sliders, beef sliders all were delicious. Great kids menu too with good prices. Good local beer selection.

ELECTION NIGHT DINNER!!! Well really it was dinner after golf. But it sounds better as election night dinner. Had talked to the staff at the Bluffton Beer Festival and decided to give it a try. I'm always a little concerned when there is nobody in the restaurant. That said the food was great. We tried beet and goat cheese salad, bronzed mahi mahi and crispy shrimp. All were very good and delivered quick to the table. A bottle of reasonably priced wine and we were good to go. Thanks to Kelly for a great experience and another restaurant worth coming back to. Give it a try!!

Love love love this place. We discovered this place toward the end of our vacation. It was so good that we ate there our last two days. They have awesome beer. And the food is served tapas style, which is great because you get to try a little of everything. Here's what we had for both nights in order of best to worst (none were even close to worse though) 1. Tuna Flatbread (so good we ordered it each night) 2. Brisket with Rosemary mashed potatoes (special of the night) 3. Kobe beef sliders 4. Crab cakes 5. Shrimp and scallop ceviche We also had a chocolate peanut butter cheesecake for dessert the first night and it was delish. Great food, quality ingredients and the service was great too. Cant wait to come back next year to try the filet.

The menu isn't long, but the food is excellent. I recommend appetizers and several social plates - smaller portions to share - instead of one full-size meal. Love the fried green tomatoes! They don't have a dessert menu, but serve wonderful cake. We ate there twice now and think it's the best restaurant, at least near the beach.

The ambiance of this place was striking even from the outside as we drove by, waiting for them to patiently open. Our first visit was a little foggy because of the parade on St. Patrick's day. We decided to visit today and tried some of their amazing craft beers. I tried the Allagash White and the Westbrook White Thia. Very yummy. He had the Victory and Allagash brewed in Jim Beam barrels. I could taste the bourbon in that sip. We had the ceviche as an app. Very fresh. He had the blackened shrimp bomber and I had the black eyed pea cake bomber. Very good. He said, "it was the lowcountry version of Primantis Brothers." ( no fries ON the sandwiches people). Just excellent food! All in all, we will be returning. P.S don't be fooled by texting. They put their orders thru via iPods and iPads:)

Went here on our first night on the island for the last two years in a row. Last year was better, it was more small plate oriented than it seemed to be this year. Some of the items remained the same, however. This year, I got a large plate of shrimp and grits, and it was ok. Didn't blow me away, the grits were not as creamy or as plentiful as I would have liked. Plenty of shrimp, but I like a higher grits to shrimp ratio than was provided. The gravy was a tad bland. Husband had a shrimp taco salad that was on the specials menu, and it looked yummy. He ate it all. Kids meals were ok, normal kind of stuff, decent prices for a tourist town. We might go back, but I'll stick to the small plate stuff. I remember from last year the fried pickles and black eyed pea cakes were awesome.

Food was amazing. Chopped Blue Cheese Salad and Fried Green Tomato Sliders were delicious! Tried "Southern Popcorn" (fried black eyed peas) for the first time, that was yummy as well. The only problem..... we had a rude waitress. At first, I thought she was just busy, which is okay. I don't mind a server that is busy and takes a while and is a little forgetful. I just can't stand a non-friendly, rude server....and unfortunately, that is what we got. Thus, only the 3 stars.

Sat outside on their great patio with live music. We weren't terribly hungry that night so we had a bunch of appetizers. The shrimp hush puppies were excellent. We also had the buffalo chicken sliders and another type of slider (I can't recall what kind) - both were very good. One member of our group had the chicken fried steak - that was average. In enteral , the food and environment were quite enjoyable.

Impressive beer selection and good, decently priced food, but flavors could be stronger. We split jalapeno-cheddar hush puppies, Kobe beef sliders, crab cake sliders, and blackened mahi mahi over cheese grits. All were ok/good, but we didn't really taste the jalapeno, nor cheddar in the hush puppies, and both sets of sliders had too much bread for the amount of patty + sauce.

Food fine, here's my issue: when I spend 140 bucks I resent being charged $1.00 to switch from mashed potatos to fries w/ the meatloaf. I know you have to make it while you can but this pricing strategy will not get me back...in fairness the server did say "he will probably upcharge you for the switch" I laughed.

Awesome meal! We had a party of 13, 7 of which were children 12 and under. Everyone left happy and full. The service was attentive, and the prices fair for the quality of the food. We will definitely return on our next trip to HH.

Came here twice on our vacation because we loved it so much. Everything we had was fantastic, even their house salad is amazing. Try the pulled pork sliders and shrimp and shitake salad. You won't be disappointed!

Thank God John was not working tonight and we got the friendly and efficient Michelle instead! ;-)

Food was average. We just had appetizers. Kobe beef sliders were the highlight of the meal. Kids fruit was pre packaged even though on the menu it said that the fruit was fresh. If you sit outside the music is very loud. All in all the food was just okay.

I had the shrimp and grits, and my wife had the tempura fried shrimp. Both dishes were excellent and the price was very reasonable.

(4)
Josh S.

Food was pretty good considering it is a tourist area, but for the price the portions were small. We had a $65 lunch with two kids and only one beer.

My wife had a slider with fish. Pretty Good. I had blackened grouper over Guida Cheese Grits with a ham/bacon red sauce. It was great. Outside seating, with two man band playing too loud music.

Nice relaxing evening. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner! We highly recommend the pulled pork egg rolls and the meatloaf!

Extremely over priced for the small, lack luster dishes. I was not impressed and regretted going here. I'm not sure what the vision of this restaurant is but it left me poor and regretful.

Great beer selection! "Chill Bar" was an apt description. They have a great patio space and live music. Our server was friendly and efficient. The shrimp roll was very good, the fried green tomato grilled cheese was pretty good.

Great service and great food. Little pricey but in this instance you get what you pay for... Quality. Try the pulled pork and grits... Best grits ever made with smoked Gouda! The seafood salsa and chips is phenomenal. Will return for sure. Patio pleasant evening experience.

(4)Preeti R.
This food was so delicious. It is the best food I had on the island. It was well cooked and the wait times at the restaurant were reasonable. The portions were good too. I will definitely return here the next time I come to Hilton Head.
(5)Trey m.
(4)Josh S.
(4)Elizabeth C.
Presentation was better than a NYC restaurant. Gorgeous. The best pulled pork slider. And the fried green tomato slider just as good. Run, don't walk to this restaurant!!!
(5)William S.
(5)PJ S.

(4)Kristen L.

(5)John C.
(3)Michael W.
(4)Dalton G.
This place was absolutely amazing. I went here with my family and fiancé and everyone got something different. I had the shrimp and grits, which I have never had before, and it far exceeded my expectations. The crab cakes, sirloin, fried green tomato blt, mahi mahi, and low country boil were all delicious. I'm sure that no matter what you get it will be delicious. The service was also very good. She was on top of all of our drinks and she suggested what beer we should get. If I ever come back to HHI this will be one of my stops.
(5)Elizabeth V.
(4)Rusty R.
(4)Nithya R.
Just came here to eat with my family on vacation. The waiter was really nice. We ordered a few entrees and it was under 40 dollars. The food was possibly the best out of all the restaurants we've been too. Good southern cooking, tastes homemade. Nice atmosphere next to the beach!
(5)Jon M.
(5)Kathea S.
(4)Melissa P.
Service was great! Food far exceeded my expectations! Shrimp and Grits, steak, southwest burger were all sampled and cooked to perfection! The blue cheese slaw was just a side but my favorite part of the whole meal!
(4)Allison K.
(5)Andy V.
We picked this place on a whim since it was our last night on the island and wanted to pick a somewhat middle of the road price wise dinner choice. It's hard to say if the service was bad because we showed up and about 10 minutes after we were seated it started to storm and we were seated under the overhang on the patio so we had to move inside and since the place is somewhat small we had to wait to be seated at the bar my fiancé ordered the Sammy burger which she said was delicious. I ordered the Hilton head tropics burger which piqued my interest since it came with pineapple. I thought the burger was also delicious as he pineapple just added to the flavor. The only downside was that the burger did not come with a side which you had to order separately for around $5-$8 so plan on adding that amount to whichever entree you choose. All in all the food was delicious and I'd recommend this place.
(4)Steve C.
Had a spicy shrimp dish on a bed of cabbage. The shrimp was excellent. My wife had surf & turf that was good. Live music and sat outside. It was by the street and there was some street noise but it was nice.
(4)Jeff N.
(2)Kevin R.

Can here when visiting my parents during Christmas... Food is really tasty, a little chilly that day so we ate inside cant wait to come back when the weather warms up.
(4)Tom D.
Not much to look at from the outside but looks are deceiving! The star of show were the pulled pork sliders, absolutely melt in your mouth. The crab cakes were excellent as well. Very kid friendly and had several tasty options for the little ones.
(4)Christopher C.
(5)Lauren S.
(2)Jim S.
(4)James W.
All I can say is WOW! My son gave us a Groupon for here for a four course meal. It was very unique and everything was excellent. I will be back. Try this place and you won't regret it!
(5)Tracey H.
coligny circle smash hit. menu is sweet blend of lowcountry modern menu dining experience. super friendly crowd -- excellent outdoor patio option. live entertainment was fun and inviting. don't miss the hush puppies or shrimp and grits!!! Matt's service on par with the best on HHI. We highly recommend.
(5)Paul O.
The service because of their iPod system was a little slow. Craft beers are great but they didn't have a few that I wanted. They were on the menu, but they had run out. I really like the social eating philosophy this place had.
(4)Marc W.
Stopped here for a change of pace, and what a pleasant surprise. Dishes were very imaginative and delicious. Loved the al fresco dining, and the staff was very attentive.
(4)Jen A.
4 stars for outdoor dining (completed with light-wrapped palm trees!), live music and fantastic beer selection! Food wasn't amazing but when you have the other things going for you...
(4)JD H.
Todd is the man. Staff is incredible. Excellent food and beers. Best Manhattan I've had in Hilton Head and the Kwak beer is a must.
(5)William M.
(3)Lynn F.
(5)Stephanie H.
(5)Cole M.
Awesome chili and a great place to watch a bengals game.
(5)Joe D.
(1)Jim V.
(1)Brian V.
(1)Brandi M.
Food was pretty good considering it is a tourist area, but for the price the portions were small. We had a $65 lunch with two kids and only one beer.
(3)Bryan R.

(1)Kevin M.
Awesome meal! We had a party of 13, 7 of which were children 12 and under. Everyone left happy and full. The service was attentive, and the prices fair for the quality of the food. We will definitely return on our next trip to HH.
(5)Margie V.
I have never been talked to so rudely by someone. We were not greeted politely nor talked to in a respectful manner. Brian is not a nice guy. Our waitress on the other hand was very sweet. The food and drink were delicious. Beer selection is great and a yummy menu
(2)Makenzie K.
(5)Ellen C.
(1)Hayley S.
Came here twice on our vacation because we loved it so much. Everything we had was fantastic, even their house salad is amazing. Try the pulled pork sliders and shrimp and shitake salad. You won't be disappointed!
(5)Belle P.

(5)Sheila F.

1st nite on HH this year - got lost trying to follow Suri directions to another restaurant - saw "grille" which I knew hubby wanted - knew Coligny Plaza -WOW - catfish sliders - voodoo sauce & Maw Maw Slaw - my new fav - thank u for rescuing the evening

(4)Sara G.

Nice staff!
(4)Susie M.
(5)Tommy N.
The food was very delicious and reasonably priced. Great night with an acoustic solo in front of the restaurant. Would recommend coming here.
(5)John H.

(4)Carolyn L.
(5)Tully B.
Really good for a relaxed casual establishment. Loved the pimento cheese appetizer. Also had chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Wife had black eyed peas and slaw. Really good and would come back again.
(4)N W.
Food was average. We just had appetizers. Kobe beef sliders were the highlight of the meal. Kids fruit was pre packaged even though on the menu it said that the fruit was fresh. If you sit outside the music is very loud. All in all the food was just okay.
(3)Leslie W.
Had the pulled pork sandwich and I loved it. Very good. We ordered pick up and it was ready in 10 minutes. Location is great. I will definitely go back if we are in the area again.
(4)Tim G.
Great location. Food was overcooked. Overall we were very disappointed.
(2)Jeremy H.
(5)Katie H.

(4)Abby R.
(4)Carly S.
Love the atmosphere here. The bar and waitstaff are friendly and fun. Haven't tired the food but the drink specials are always great. They typically have live music as well.
(4)Debby F.
(5)Kim S.

(4)Tracy B.

(4)Ashley S.
(5)Karsten S.
(4)Lexy S.
(5)Catherine A.
Had 1/2 soup & sandwich for lunch. What a gem! The food was fantastic~ great big wooden bar with mirrored bar / the bar personalities to match! Todd introduced us to the best gumbo I've had on the Island...Chef Rob knows what he's doing!

The food and atmosphere was amazing. My wife and I ate here for our 1yr anniversary and really enjoyed ourselves. We had the pulles pork sliders and rasberry cheesecake. We also really enjoyed the live music and Reid Richmond sang Make You Feel My Love for us and did a phenomenal job. I would highly recommend Bomboras Grille!
(5)Heather J.

(3)M K.

(5)Lauren S.

(4)William S.
(5)Jen A.
(3)Lynn F.
(5)Stephanie H.
(5)Cole M.
Awesome chili and a great place to watch a bengals game.
(5)Joe D.
(1)Jim V.
(1)Brian V.
(1)William H.
(1)Jessica G.
Great food but double check your bill. Our party of six was almost over charged 33%. After inquiring it was corrected....no apology or explaination. This was after it took 15 min to be greeted and we nearly left. Hope your experience is better.
(5)Ellen C.
(1)Hayley S.
Came here twice on our vacation because we loved it so much. Everything we had was fantastic, even their house salad is amazing. Try the pulled pork sliders and shrimp and shitake salad. You won't be disappointed!
(5)Megan W.

(4)Sara P.
(4)Bev C.
(4)Wendell B.

(4)Sara G.
Just went for the sweet fries and a local brew. Both were excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful too. Their food also looked amazing!
(4)Leigh D.
(4)Beth V.
(5)Rebecca B.
Nice staff!
(4)Susie M.
(5)Tommy N.
The food was very delicious and reasonably priced. Great night with an acoustic solo in front of the restaurant. Would recommend coming here.
(5)John H.
(5)Jeremy H.
(5)Jeremy T.
(4)Boston Italian Girl O.
(4)Carolyn L.
(2)Katie H.
(4)Scott T.
(4)Abby R.
(4)Carly S.
Love the atmosphere here. The bar and waitstaff are friendly and fun. Haven't tired the food but the drink specials are always great. They typically have live music as well.
(4)PJ S.
(4)Lisa P.
(4)Kristen L.

(5)John C.
(3)Jeffry P.
I had the shrimp and grits, and my wife had the tempura fried shrimp. Both dishes were excellent and the price was very reasonable.
(5)Brad A.
Been coming to HHI for YEARS and never made it here until tonight. Casual dining with cool food selections. Small menu but all excellently prepared. Highly recommend!
(4)Preeti R.
This food was so delicious. It is the best food I had on the island. It was well cooked and the wait times at the restaurant were reasonable. The portions were good too. I will definitely return here the next time I come to Hilton Head.
(5)Trey m.
(4)Josh S.
(4)Elizabeth C.
Presentation was better than a NYC restaurant. Gorgeous. The best pulled pork slider. And the fried green tomato slider just as good. Run, don't walk to this restaurant!!!
(5)Michael W.

Had a spicy shrimp dish on a bed of cabbage. The shrimp was excellent. My wife had surf & turf that was good. Live music and sat outside. It was by the street and there was some street noise but it was nice.

Food was pretty good considering it is a tourist area, but for the price the portions were small. We had a $65 lunch with two kids and only one beer.

My wife had a slider with fish. Pretty Good. I had blackened grouper over Guida Cheese Grits with a ham/bacon red sauce. It was great. Outside seating, with two man band playing too loud music.
